Typical Analysis:  C  0.36 ; Si  0.3 ; Mn 1.5 ; P  0.02 ; S 0.003 ; Cr 2.00 ; Ni  1.00 ; Mo 0.2

Properties : Popular grade of steel used for very large dimensions. Addition of 1% nickel by alloying significantly improves penentration hardening.

Applications: It is highly suitable when a higher  degree of through hardening for very large dimensions are required. Can be polished to obtain a very high level of gloss. Good machinability combined with etch-grainability are the defining characteristics of this steel.It is also hard chrome plateable , Nitridable , as well as flame hardenable
